We've been working with editor Brian Maffitt for a month and a half now. After a lot of heavy lifting - including transcribing and editing all 21 of the interviews we gathered during filming last year and spring of this year - we are on to the story telling.
Brian is former co-owner and founder of Total Training, a video-based training provider for creative digital software. He is currently Animation Tech Director for CBS' studios The Late Show, which includes the ongoing news spoof show 'Tooning out the News'.
Brian has been working closely with the director of Family of the Sun to put our story together and the team will soon have clips and sequences for us to review, with a hoped for full cut by early January.

Phase 3 production brought us back to Janak's home, Giridarshan, in India. March 2023
We visited India one last time to capture one of the more poignant stories in our film, the introduction of Nanda Chouhan, a longtime aide, friend, and devoted student of Janak McGilligan via sustainability, alternative energy and educating tribal woman and disadvantaged people how to use solar energy to avoid smokey lives and costly non-renewable and polluting fossil fuels.
We also captured the inauguration ceremony event held for the now complete and functioning Big CSP dish at Muni Seva Ashram, complete with ribbon cutting and blessings.

Phase 3A production was actually a filming opportunity wrapped in a wedding invitation. Nepal. January 2023
I was in Kathmandu to attend the wedding of my Nepali brother Udit Bhatta and was reminded that long-time Surya Ka Parivar family member Sanukaji Shrestha was nearby our hotel and would be happy to host our team for an interview session and a look around his sustainability efforts via FoST - the Foundation for Sustainable Training.
The wedding was overwhelmingly amazing and beautiful.

Phase 2 production involved more filming in India, at Mt Abu, Muni Seva, Giridarshan and Essential Equipmnets, Dhule, with a brief stop in Nepal. October 2022
this time covering the completion of Sunrise CSP India's large solar dish, located at Muni Seva Ashram, near Baroda, in Gujarat state. A key visual moment for us was bringing our video drone high above the India One Solar project at Mt. Abu, developed and run by the Brahma Kumaris and German solar engineer Wolfgang Scheffler.
It was visual treat to visit Rahul Karkani's Essential Equipments development and engineering space, as well as the legacy of dish and reflector designs they've progressed through, as they continue searching for best ways to capture the sun's abundant energy.
